Short vertical videos are one of the fastest ways to share expertise. You don't need a studio: a phone, natural light and a clear message are enough.

1. Script it in 60 seconds

  • Hook (0–5 s): the problem in one line. "Still copy-pasting the same report every Monday?"
  • Value (5–50 s): three quick steps or one clear example.
  • Close (50–60 s): one call to action: follow, comment, or read the full guide.
"Turn this article into a 60-second video script with a hook, three steps and a call to action. Use short spoken sentences."

2. Record well

  • Film vertically (9:16) at eye level; rest the phone on books or a small tripod.
  • Face a window for soft, even light.
  • Sound matters more than picture: record in a quiet room, or use a small clip-on microphone.
  • Record in short takes; it is easier to edit than one long take.

3. Edit simply

Most phone editing apps can trim pauses, add auto-generated captions and a title card. Always add captions: many people watch with the sound off, and captions make your video accessible. Proof-read auto-captions, especially names and technical terms.

4. Publish and repurpose

  • Write a short description with two or three relevant hashtags.
  • Upload natively to each platform rather than sharing links.
  • Check each platform's current length and format guidelines before you post, as they change often.
  • Pin the best-performing video and link it to your blog or newsletter.
Respect rights and privacy: use only music you are licensed to use, and get permission before filming colleagues, clients or customers.
