Start a professional blog or newsletter: a 30-day publishing plan

Pick a focus, set up a simple publishing system and ship four quality posts in your first month, using AI as an editor rather than a ghost-writer.

A blog or newsletter is still one of the best ways to build credibility: it shows how you think, it is searchable, and you own the audience. Here is a realistic 30-day plan to go from idea to a steady habit.

Week 1: Choose your focus and platform

  • Who is it for? One sentence: "Practical AI tips for finance teams in small companies."
  • What will you publish? One format, one frequency. Weekly is plenty.
  • Where? Your own website, a newsletter platform, or LinkedIn articles. Choose one main home and share links elsewhere.

Week 2: Build a simple publishing system

  1. An idea list: questions customers or colleagues ask you.
  2. A template: hook, problem, three practical steps, example, next step.
  3. A checklist: headline, one image with alt text, links checked, spelling checked, call to action.

Week 3: Write, edit, publish

Write the first draft yourself; your experience is the value. Then use AI as an editor:

"Edit this post for clarity. Keep my voice and all facts. Suggest three alternative headlines and point out anything that is unclear or unsupported."

Check every fact and statistic, and only use images you have the rights to use.

Week 4: Distribute and learn

  • Share each post with a short summary, not just a link.
  • Repurpose it: one post can become a LinkedIn carousel, three short posts and a short video.
  • Track two numbers: subscribers and replies. Replies tell you what to write next.
Consistency beats perfection. Four good posts in a month build more trust than one perfect post a year.
